My work is based on the over-arching theme of contemporary surveillance. We live in a society that, functions to a degree, on the constant use of surveillance practices. Technology has created the opportunity for mass blanket-surveillance to become a reality.

Current Research Project: Wake Up: Log On

The project Wake Up: Log On combines sound design, digital drawings and poetry into an animated installation that explores the extent to which surveillance technology is now embedded within our everyday lives. The work addresses the viewer directly and is designed to alert the viewer to the everyday nature of surveillance and the implications that this has for our democratic rights as citizens and on our right to privacy.

As part of the research for the  project I  attended the  Surveillance Studies Network (SSN) international conference held in Barcelona in April 2014. The work draws on research material presented at the conference and contains interview material from leading academics in the field of surveillance studies. I also produced a booklet to accompany the work which contains a Short Essay on Surveillance and is illustrated by images from the installation.  The animated film and booklet can be seen by clicking on the links above or my most recent posts.
